La Luna De Sorrento.

Hey there, fellas - I'm terribly sorry for the lack of updates, I've been busy with my entertaining (to say the least) holidays and It was a bit of a pain in the arse to post a new entry in my blog whilts being caught up in all that stuff.

This time, I'm going to introduce you a lovely aussie star called Tina Arena, one of the most influyent and amazingly enormous artists to ever stand up and represent her beautiful homecountry (even considering she was born in Italy!). The track in question that I'd love to showcase in this entry is 'Sorrento Moon (I Remember)', the 2nd single from her Diamond Certified somophore effort 'Don't Ask', which cracked several Top 40 charts all over the world. Even if it wasn't a monster hit like her legendary smash 'Chains', 'Sorrento Moon' reflects Tina's fragility and wonderful songwriter abilities. Basically, the song paints a particular night in which a couple in love get to escape from everything and one of them narrates how beautiful and tender was their love back then; plus mention the reasons why she loved him so badly. Thing is, as you might have thought already, the track has bittersweet undertones thanks to it being based on just memories - which makes us listeners take a wild guess that the relationship is over and one of them is still in love, even considering their time has passed.

It's far from being a ballad, but its emotional content will surely get you a bit teary after a couple of spins.

Here's the link to the track (which is presented in my favourite skin, the Live Version from the Olympia 2002 concert):

Feel free to comment, as always :). First, I must admit I felt a bit insecure about posting this gem of a recording on my blog - so, I truly hope you all give it (at the very least!) a mild chance to warm your heart like it did to me :).

He Perdido Los Zapatos.

Everyone's got a soundtrack to their lives, no matter if those particular tracks coloured either their blue or good times. In my particular case, my summer of 2007 used this very special recording by an Spaniard duo called 'Nena Daconte' (Consisting of Mai Meneses and composer Kim Fanlo), whom re-released their debut 'He Perdido Los Zapatos' with a couple of extra tracks to coincide with the success of '¿En Qué Estrella Estará?' - The official song of 'La Vuelta Ciclista a España 2007'.

To be honest, the discovery of this album was a bit random, since I already disliked the aforementioned song thanks to it being a bit overplayed everywhere (For Christ's sake, I coudn't turn on the TV without hearing the friggin' thing!) and Mai's vocals being totally off puting (she struggles to reach some of the high notes). Well, thing is that, in one of my downtown trips all 'round Bilbao, I visited an indie record store that managed to catch my attention - so, while I was taking a glance of all of the CD's laying all over the store, I stumbled with this particular album that had a strange coverart that grabbed my curiosity. So, I asked the owner if he could play a bit of the record for me to preview it and he refused (the cunt!), but since the front of the album was alluring enough to tie down my collector's side - I bought the album dirt cheap (with a couple of extras to fill up some gaps in my collection, as always ;D).

I went home after having a nice dinner at El Corte Inglés, and promtly opened the case, just to find out a promotional card announcing the CD included the hit single '¿En Qué Estrella Estará?' - I evidently cringed - it was that particular song that made my teeth grit and drove me to oblivion. Still, I took a deep breath and put the album on my CD player - and then there was no turning back. In many years, I didn't have the pleasure to listen to such a beautifully crafted collection of recordings, that deals with depression, sadness, the fear of being alone the rest of your life, the coldness of being involved in a putrid relationship and the beauty of dealing with darkness and hard times with self-deprecation. Nena Daconte also scored another massive feat in my books, being the first all-spanish-spoken album to crack my yearly Top 5 list of favourite albums - peaking at #2 in that very same list on 2007.

Here's the link to download the album:

This album has helped me in so many ways it's not funny, and I truly hope you give it a chance to shine on your player, at least once.

See ya in my next entry, fellas :).

I Can't Sleep At Night.

It's quite evident that this is my first entry on blogspot, isn't it? - Everything about it is an instant giveaway, the cheap banner, the plain design and the absense of any substancial information; which I can't really blame on myself, since I can barely work out a coherent sentence after 11 P.M.

If you're visiting my blog, you probably know my name and also a bit about me, but in case a lurker is checking out this random page - My name's Jose Manuel (txetxu to friends and family). I live in a minimal town in the middle of nowhere and with practically no fun places to burn out my spare time (as if there's such thing!), so my little misadventures might not seem as enjoyable as I'd like to think so, but since I have the right to command this space, I'll update it with any useless piece of information that happens in my little joyride of a life, random thoughts and (yes, you have guessed it) some nice tunes from time to time.

Feel free to comment and leave a shout ;d don't be silly guns!. Hope ya'll have a nice read and interesting discussions seldomly :).
